In this podcast, we talk with regular people across the US about their own experiences with sex ed. What did they learn? What did they miss? Some stories are so hilarious that you’ll laugh till you cry. And some are so disappointingly awful that you will just…cry.
After we’ve heard all the juicy stories, we switch to solution mode. Let’s correct the record, bust the lingering rumors, and talk through things we still wish we knew. After all, grown ups need sex ed too.
This independent podcast project makes space for the conversations and questions that we’ve all missed—and then inspires us all to DO something about it.
Sex ed sucks, but it doesn’t have to be this way.
Missed Education is a podcast for everyone who has a sneaking suspicion that sex education could be better, and wants to do something about it.
Meet your host
Helluuu there. I’m Lauryn, and I’m so glad that you’re here!
I’m a writer, designer, and sexual health educator who’s worked on reproductive health education campaigns around the world. I’ve designed curriculums to help teach teenage boys in India about periods, run workshops with young people in El Salvador to create a pleasure-based sex ed program, and written UX content for apps in Rwanda that helps young people order birth control from local pharmacies.
Here’s the common denominator: sex education sucks…. everywhere.
But it is especially bad in the United States. And in a time where sexual health topics are regular players in the national news, it still feels like a lot of us are still missing basic sex ed.
I’m working towards a world where every young person (or not so young person!) has access to age appropriate, inclusive, affirming, medically accurate sexual health education and information.
Join me by listening to the podcast, asking questions, or getting involved locally to help advocate for better sex education in your own community.
